There are mornings when I have to pinch myself.
I'm sitting at my desk, looking out over the river. A heron stands perfectly still on a stone below — patient, unhurried, completely at peace with the world. The flowers are in full bloom, running all the way down to the water's edge in a riot of colour. I can hear cows mooing in the distance, sheep bleating on the hillside, the river running steadily below, birds singing in the trees and bumblebees buzzing lazily in the warm July air.

Bella's Afternoon Agenda
By early afternoon, a certain Border Collie has made it very clear that desk time is over.
Bella has her own schedule — and it doesn't include spreadsheets.
So we head out into the village for our afternoon walk. The lanes are quiet, the hedgerows are full, and Bella trots ahead with the confidence of someone who knows exactly where she's going.
And she does know. Because Bella's afternoon walk has one non-negotiable destination — the pub.
Specifically, the pub where her best friend lives. A farm dog of considerable character who, by all accounts, spends most of his working day helping his farmer owner prop up the bar. The two of them greet each other like old friends reunited after years apart — which, given it's been approximately 24 hours, says everything you need to know about Border Collies.
I order a drink. They sort themselves out. The inglenook fire crackles. A Lunara lantern glows warmly on the shelf nearby — because even the pub knows good taste when it sees it. 🕯️
The Evening Belongs to Family
The walk home is slow and easy. The kind of walk where you're not really going anywhere, just enjoying the getting there.
Back at the house, thoughts turn to the evening meal. I'm a French trained chef — cooking for the family isn't a chore, it's one of the best parts of the day. There's something deeply satisfying about feeding the people you love.
And then, once the plates are cleared and the kitchen is quiet, the evening belongs to homework with my young daughter.
Because even when you're building a brand — even when the emails are piling up and the to-do list is growing — family always comes first.
