We had a plan.
A beautiful summer garden party. A long table dressed with flowers. Prosecco chilling in an ice bucket. A gorgeous Lunara reed diffuser scenting the warm evening air. Candles glowing softly as the sun set over the garden. Pure, effortless elegance.
And then British Summer arrived.
The Gazebo Goes Up
It started well. The gazebo looked magnificent in the garden. The table was set. The food was ready. The Lunara candle was lit. For approximately eleven minutes, everything was perfect.
And then the wind picked up.
Enter Bella.
Bella is our Border Collie. Bella does not understand garden parties. Bella does not care about the carefully arranged table, the prosecco, or the reed diffuser. Bella saw an open garden, a group of excited children, and made an immediate decision — absolute chaos was the only appropriate response. 😂
Paper plates went flying. Someone's hat disappeared over the fence. The kids ran wild with joy. And Bella — soaking wet and absolutely delighted — ran rings around the entire thing.
The Gazebo Becomes Headquarters
Within twenty minutes the entire family had retreated under the gazebo. The sandwiches were slightly warm. The prosecco was now lukewarm. It was drizzling. Nobody was admitting defeat but everyone knew.
This is British Summer. And honestly?? We wouldn't have it any other way.
The One Thing That Stayed Perfect
Through all of it — the wind, the rain, the chaos, the Bella situation — the Lunara candle kept burning. Quietly. Beautifully. Completely unbothered.
And that's the thing about creating a sanctuary. It doesn't have to be perfect. It doesn't have to go to plan. You just need one beautiful, grounding thing that reminds you — this is still a good life. A beautiful life. 🖤
